Suborno Rui Fry Litarature
Bangladesh Fisheries Research Institute (BFRI) has developed this new variety of Rui fish after a long period of research. It has been named 'Golden Rui' as it was released on the Golden Jubilee of Independence. It is fast growing and much more profitable than the common Rui. ‘সুবর্ণ রুই’। এটি দ্রুত বর্ধনশীল এবং সাধারণ রুইয়ের চেয়ে অনেক বেশি লাভজনক।
Characteristics of Suborno Rui Fry
- Fast growth: This fish grows about 20.12% faster than the common rui.
- Improved Strain: This fish is made through genetic selection from the natural source of Rui of Halda, Jamuna and Brahmaputra rivers.
- Attractive appearance: The surface of the fish's body is reddish and golden, so its demand and price are high in the market.
- High disease resistance: The ability to tolerate adverse environments of this breed is greater than that of ordinary rue.

- The amount of time and food may be more or less depending on the soil of the pond, water depth, water color and other arrangements.
Pond preparation and stocking of fry:
- Pond selection: The ideal pond size should be above 20 percent and the depth should be 5-6 feet.
- Application of Lime and fertilizer: After drying the pond, 1 kg of lime per percent and fertilizer at a specific rate should be applied after 4-5 days to create natural food (plankton).
- Stocking density: In case of monoculture, 40-50 fry of golden rui can be stocked per percent and in mixed cultivation, 10-15 fry can be stocked.

Food Management:
- To get high yield of golden rui, it is necessary to apply supplementary floating food rich in 25-30% protein.
- The food should be given twice daily at the rate of 3-5% of the fish weight.
- The water quality (pH and ammonia) should be checked regularly.
Production and Harvesting:
- With proper management, this fish reaches marketable weight in just 6-8 months.
- At the same time, it is possible to produce much more fish from golden rui than from ordinary rui.
Important Points in Fish Farming:
- It is better to apply food daily at specific times and places. Applying food on both sides alon the middle of the pond gives good results.
- Weight and health of fish should be checked twice a month.
- Since fish are more susceptible to diseases in winter, if 0.5 kg of lime and 0.5 kg of Salt is used twice a month for 15 days in the month of Aswin-Kartik, the fish is not usually infected.
- Better results are obtained by applying disinfectant every 15-20 days in winter from Kartik-Agrahayan month.
